Elsa Schiaparelli, 1890-1973 ItalySchiaparelli was a fashion designer who was very popular over the period of both World Wars. She debuted with knitwear designs and later developed into more complex high couture designs, influenced by surrealism. She collaborated with Dali and Alberto Giacometti. She is famous to be a pioneer in fashion along with Coco Channel, who was her greatest rival. Her clients included the heiress Daisy Fellowes and actress Mae West. If you are interested in Schiaparelli I recommend you to watch the 1951 film Moulin Rouge! for which she designed the wardrobe.
